These trompe l’oeil paintings are life-sized “folded canvases.” Wooden panels were covered with various supports—ranging from coarse to finely woven fabrics (cotton, linnen & burlap)—which were then physically folded. The spatial presence, the actual surface structure of the support, and the illusion of surface texture subtly interact, challenging perception and blurring the boundary between object and image, between fiction and reality.
