The subjects I choose have a self-evident presence in our lived environment: objects and materials that have become invisible through their triviality, yet simultaneously carry cultural and sensory value. A plain cheese sandwich, the texture of brick—elements that shape the tactility of the world around us. I am drawn to subjects in which a strong sense of place emerges, where the everyday also reveals something culturally specific. My aim is to paint these motifs in a way that preserves their banal appearance while simultaneously making their underlying layers visible.
